Brownstone's Fit for Charity Campaign

The Brownstone Insurance Team has just completed its very own "Fit for Charity" campaign. During the month of August, our team members were equipped with Fitbits and challenged to complete 10,000 steps per day! Each team member chose a charity that was important to them and worked towards achieving their fitness goal each and every day in order to earn a donation of $5/day to their charity.  Listed below are the team members and their charity of choice.  Drum roll please...

Stephanie Adams - The Standish Humane Society! The Standish Humane Society holds a special place in Stephanie's heart as she rescued her two cats from this loving no-kill cat shelter. Stephanie has had the opportunity of volunteering with them and has been able to experience the way the staff and volunteers at the SHS care for the cats. Stephanie happily chose this charity knowing that 94% of all funds donated to SHS go directly to the housing and impeccable care of the animals.

John Linehan - Zoo New England! John chose Zoo New England because it was an incredible influence on his childhood and he wants others to be impacted by nature in the same manner that he has been. At Zoo New England, the dedicated team works hard to educate and entertain children and adults. John hopes that with the support of companies such as Brownstone this great place will be around for years to come!

Amy O'Donnell - Soul Sisters! Amy has been an avid supporter of this local charity for years! Soul Sisters is dedicated to promoting awareness of critical women's health issues and donates annually to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Soul Sisters and DFCI are near and dear to Amy's heart for the outstanding treatment and support given to Amy's mother throughout her battle with cancer.

Alexis Kimball & Lindsey Spencer - Cradles to Crayons! Alexis and Lindsey chose this charity keeping in mind that the school year is just kicking off and for more than 305,000 MA children who live in poor or low-income households, this may be a nerve-racking time of year! This charity directly impacts children that may not be as fortunate as others by providing essential items they need to thrive. Our dynamic duo of Agent Relations Managers wanted to make sure that all Massachusetts children are properly prepared to have a great start to the 2014-2015 school year!

Paul Joyce - The Foundation for Angleman Syndrome Therapeutics! Paul's stepson Dana has Angelman Syndrome, a neurogenetic disorder that leads to developmental challenges. Paul and his wife Annie often wonder what he would be like if he was a typical child. He doesn’t speak and is totally dependent on others to care for  him. FAST is an organization that was started with the help of actor Colin Farrell who has a son with AS. This amazing organization raises money for research with the hope of curing AS some day.

Brendan Pittsley & Michelle Robinson - The Friendship HomeThe Friendship Home’s mission is “to enrich the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families by providing quality respite care and support services in a safe and caring environment.” The Personal Lines team has volunteered at the Friendship Home in the past and has seen first-hand how they bring excitement and hope to individuals with disabilities! We are so excited to be able to continue to support this wonderful charity!

Beth Cincotta - NEADS/Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans! NEADS is a nationally recognized organization that trains highly-specialized Service Dogs at their headquarters in Princeton, MA. Through a number of initiatives, NEADS has trained over 1,400 Service Dogs for people who are deaf or have hearing loss, people with a variety of disabilities, wounded combat veterans, teachers, ministers, therapists and children on the autism spectrum. Beth and the entire Brownstone team especially appreciate the Pawsitively Strong Fund organized by NEADS, which provides Service Dogs to survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Katherine Mullen - The Jimmy Fund! Katherine has been a supporter of the Jimmy Fund since she witness their incredible care and treatment of her best friend and volleyball teammate, Holly Young, throughout her 3 year battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. Holly loved the Red Sox and through the Jimmy Fund's generosity, she was able to participate in many Red Sox events such as spring training, home opener games, and the annual WEEI NESN Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon, where she was a spokeswoman for the Jimmy Fund. Brownstone is thrilled to join Katherine in supporting this fantastic charity and world-renowned clinic.

Sara Tasney - New England Organ Bank! Sara chose the New England Organ Bank to give the gift of life to those in need of organ and tissue transplants. More than 120,000 Americans are waiting for lifesaving organ transplants and many more are waiting for donated tissues. Last year alone, organ donors saved more than 28,000 lives! The gift of organ and tissue donation will not only save lives but will help enhance and restore hundreds of thousands of patients each year to good health and full mobility. Sara recently completed the 2014 Falmouth Road Race with the NEOB team and Brownstone is delighted to support her in her quest to save lives!

Scott Thatcher - Children of Vietnam! Scott has supported Children of Vietnam for many years now and feels passionately about their mission to significantly improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Vietnam. Scott dedicated his 2012 and 2013 Boston Marathons to Children of Vietnam and  you can read about his experiences here!  Brownstone is excited to join him in support of this incredible organization.

The Brownstone Insurance Team donated a total of $1,860 during this August's "Fit for Charity" Campaign!

We look forward to giving again soon.
