In order to close a $53 million dollar gap in the state's budget, increased RMV fees go into effect Tuesday, July 1st in the state of Massachusetts.
Non-commercial vehicle registration fees are increasing from $50 to $60. The cost of annual motor vehicle inspections is going up from $29 to $35. The road test fee, a one-time fee for the majority of drivers, is increasing to $35, up from $20.
No changes to commercial registrations will go into effect.
