Yesterday's severe thunderstorms caused a good amount of damage throughout the South Shore and South Coast, Massachusetts. Power outages and downed trees were frequent problems following the "micro burst" storms.
According to the National Weather Service, about 100 trees were downed throughout the area.
Did you know that your homeowner's insurance may help pay for repairs caused by downed trees on your property? If a tree on your property falls during severe weather and causes damage to your home, garage or car, your homeowner's insurance would cover the damages. If a tree in your yard falls and damages a neighbor's home, garage or car, your insurance would also cover that damage.
The tree must be located on your property, though. Typically, your city or town's department of Public Works will be responsible for clearing town-owned downed trees.
