The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for today through 7pm. The extreme temperatures means that the heat index will be 101 and higher, resulting in dangerous conditions for those spending prolonged time outside.
The combination of high temperatures with high humidity will create uncomfortable conditions and heat illnesses will be probable.
And air quality alert has also been issued and is in effect through 11pm tonight. This alert means that ground level ozone concentrations may approach or reach unhealthy standards.
Be sure to remain hydrated, stay indoors in air-conditioned envrionments if possible and remain out of the sun. Check on neighbors and relatives, especially if they are elderly.
