Beginning on July 28th, the state of Massachusetts will be offering up to $150 in rebate money to households that replace their old air conditioner or refrigerator with a new, energy-efficient Energy Star model.
Energy-saving appliances are good for the environment and can save households money in the long-run.
The only requirement to be eligible for the rebate is that customers turn in their old appliances at the time of purchase.
Massachusetts has allocated a budget of $2 million for this rebate project, $100,000 of which is earmarked specifically for residents of cities and towns that were hit by tornados in June. These customers will also not be required to turn in their old appliances at the time of purchase to receive the rebate, since many of them lost everything in the severe storms.
Just be very careful when are you removing or installing an air conditioner or any other appliance. Adhering to the manufacturer's directions is vital for safety. If you are unsure of how to remove or install an appliance, it's best to ask for help from a friend, family member or licensed professional.
